Many merchants often need to ship the goods from Mainland to HK under various situations, hence choosing a right courier company is crucial. In the previous blog, we have compared 5 local courier companies for sending goods within Hong Kong, this time let’s check out 4 mainland couriers for sending goods from mainland to HK. Since many courier companies in China charge based on the location and city, hence we will use 5 cities in China as reference- Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

 

1) S.F. Express

S.F. Express is a mature logistic company that has a nationwide network around the world. With the courier tracking number, merchant can check the status update of the parcel instantly. SF have over 12,000 service points in Mainland China covering regions such as the South, East, Central and North China etc.

 

SF offers two kinds of service for shipping goods from Mainland to HK – Standard Express and Speedy Express. The rate of Standard Express is cheaper than Speedy Express, however, it is not available in some cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The estimated delivery day for Standard Express is 4 days while Speedy Express is 3 days.

2) ZTO Express

As of the quarter of 2020, there are 6 logistics companies in China dominating 84.47% of the courier market share in China – SF Express, JDL, ZTO Express, YTO Express, STO Express, and Yunda Express. Since JDL, STO Express, and Yunda Express do not provide service to HK, we will compare the other 3 companies instead. 

 

The first kilogram of ZTO Express shipping from Beijing and Chongqing to Hong Kong is ¥23 (~HK$26.5) with additional rate of ¥13/kg (~HK$15) and ¥11/kg (~HK$13) respectively; Shipping from Shanghai to Hong Kong is ¥20 (~HK$23) for the first kg with additional rate of  ¥9/kg (~HK$10). Compared with SF Express, ZTO Express is more expensive than SF Standard Express but it’s cheaper than SF Speedy Express. The estimated delivery day for ZTO Express id around 4 days.

3) YTO Express

Different from SF and ZTO Express that the rate varies with location, YTO Express charges a uniform rate regardless of location, which the first kg is ¥32 (~HK$37) with additional rate of ¥7/kg (~HK$8). The estimated delivery day for YTO Express id around 4 days.

4) 4PX Express (Hong Kong)

4PX Express (Hong Kong) is a global logistics company affiliated with 4PX Express, which offers services to ship from mainland China, USA, and UK to Hong Kong. Same with YTO Express, 4PX charges a uniform rate regardless of location for $53.5 for the first 5kg with additional rate of $8/kg. Compared with the above 3 courier companies with a 5kg parcel as an example, 4PX is the cheapest at $53.5 only while others like SF Standard Express cost $68.
